Wednesday 20th March. Gibraltar - Ocean Village Marina.

Walked to the top of the rock up the Mediterranean steps, very challenging.
Nearly there. That's Sotogrande in the distance.

Shame I forgot to bring my binoculars, lots of interesting bird life. I saw one of these:
Barbary Partridge.

St Michael's caves. The photo doesn't do justice. It was spectacular.

My neighbour has been here in the marina for five months and is a great source of information. I am now fully aware of how cheap alcohol is in Gibraltar and how I can't possibly leave without filling my bilges.
I don't drink the stuff but I might start.

    I wish I'd gone to those caves when I was there (looks really spectacular) - can't remember why I didn't. Maybe it was all the cheap alcohol ! No more close encounters with the simian residents I trust !

      The little sod was lying on the steps going down and didn't like it when I tried to step over him. I had to go all the way back up, the steps not the rock. I wondered what would happen if another one closed off my exit. Showdown!

At last I am off the anchor and in Seville proper. I should have read the book more carefully, this is not Holland, they only open the bridge to get in and out once every other day. And the book said that they always have space here but from what I can see I was lucky to get a booking, I can't see any other free spaces and I am wedged between two gin palaces, moored for and aft, Mediterranean style. First thing tomorrow,  shower, get mosquito nets then meet Margaux at the airport.
