Friday 14th November. Cascais marina.

Forced into the marina in the early hours by the weather I have booked in here until Sunday. I really wanted to avoid this place because of scary stories about the prices they charge (the king has/had his boat here). But €25 a night is not too bad and they didn't charge me for last night/this morning, some would. I'm not sure that I would have been able to get further upriver against the wind anyway.
It looks like I'm going to be here until Wednesday.

  1. wow. it must have been a relief anyhow to find shelter. And 25 euro still sounds incredibly good value. Hope you savour every cent!

    1. It is but I've been getting used to paying half that down here in the low season.

  2. Evora is a relatively cheap and easy day trip out of Lisbon. Highly recommend it.

  3. It doesn´t surprise me the king had his boat there: it is such a pretty marine area. I used to attend some teacher conferences there and loved walking around the place. I suppose you are now entering the more pricey ports of the south coast of Portugal and Spain, but you will find bargains since it is now low season.

  5. Thanks Carmel, phone problems. On the Algarve now and I've managed to login to some unsecured WiFi from a hotel somewhere near where I've anchored the boat, it's poor though.
